Firouz Shahnameh (Darabnameh), narrated by Mohammad Bighami is a remarkable Persian folk literary work. Zabihollah Safa corrected and published Firouz Shahnameh for the first time in 1960-1962, titled Darabnameh. Because the title of this story in the manuscript held in Revan Kosku Library, Turkey, was Darabnameh, Safa selected this title, but he correctly knew that its real name is Firouz Shahnameh. The manuscripts of Revan Kosku Library are incomplete. Another manuscript of the work titled Firouz Shahnameh, is kept in the Uppsala University library, Sweden. Iraj Afshar and Mehran Afshari corrected and published this version. Although the textual correction of this manuscript was made carefully, it is not far from deficiency. This paper tried to correct some of these mistakes. Mistakes be seen in the in prose and verses quoted by poets such as Anwari (Diwan), Nezami Ganjavi (Khosrow and Shirin, Haft Peikir and Sharafnameh), Attar Neyshaboury (Asrarnameh), and Jamal al-Din Abdul Razzaq Isfahani (Diwan). For correcting wrong the wrong words that made their way into the prose phrases, attention was paid to the correct recording of the original versions that were in the footnotes, to the style of the book, and to formal sentences and phrases. Comparing the phrases of Darabnameh with Zahiri Samarqandi’s Sandbadnameh shows the correct form of some wrong words. Since Bighami’s story has a very high status among ancient national stories and in addition to the artistic, literary, and social aspects, it includes linguistic benefits, it should be available to those interested in Persian literature as much as possible. Applying the corrections or suggestions of this paper in the next edition of this book can be a good contribution in this regard.
