Abstract

Diwān-e-Qā'emiyyāt is one of the few remaining historical poetic work of the Ismailis of the Alamūt period, which has been kept out of reach due to religious biases. This work was discovered in the village of Yahn(A small village 36 KM north of Bīrjand) in 1343 AH by the efforts of S.J.Badakhshani, the editor of the Diwān, and after correction, was published with a preface by Shafiei Kadkani in 1390 AH by Miras-e-Maktoob Publications. In this Diwān, some themes are discussed, all of which revolve around the central axis of the Diwān, namely the Resurrection(Qiyāmat). The Resurrection, introduced by Imām Hasan (ʻalā dhikrihiʼl salām) with the support of the Ismaili theologians in 559 AH/1164 CE (Alamūt period), is addressed by Hasan Mahmūd Kātib in Diwān-e-Qā'emiyyāt. This article, while presenting the concept of Qiyāmat and the Qā'im in Ismaili thought, focuses on the specific meanings and related concepts of the term Qiyāmat during and after the Alamūt period. By examining the poems of Kātib in Diwān-e-Qā'emiyyāt, it seems that the Ismaili perspective on Qiyāmat differs from other Islamic sects' interpretations of this concept. In Diwān-e-Qā'emiyyāt, Qiyāmat is not an eschatological matter related to the world after death; rather, it is entirely worldly and pertains to Qā'im who is an Imām who has responsibilities during a specific period of time. This article employs an analytical-descriptive approach to delve into the concepts related to the Resurrection in Ismaili thought, comparing it with other sects, and ultimately exploring its reflection in Diwān-e-Qā'emiyyāt.
