History of the journal

From 2009 (Issue No. 164), following the directive of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology regarding the specialization of journals according to academic disciplines, this journal was published under the title 'Literary Enquiries (formerly Literature and Human Sciences)' in the field of Persian language and literature. Since 2016, it has been published under the new title 'New Literary Studies. Furthermore, in 2025, New Literary Studies has received scientific and cultural support from the Iranian Scientific Association of Persian Language and Literature.

Review Process

  1. The deadline for initial acceptance of the article is 5 days, and respected reviewers will be able to view the full article after initial acceptance.

  2. The maximum response time for articles submitted for review is 15 days. If no response is provided within this period, the submitted article will be removed from the reviewer's portal and will be recorded in the review history.

  3. Due to the confidentiality of the review process, please strictly refrain from making any comments or notes that could lead to the disclosure of the reviewer's identity.

    Open Access Policy

    New literary studies is an open access journal, meaning that all of its content is available to users free of charge and without any cost. Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose without prior permission from the publisher or author.

    This journal provides immediate open access to its content based on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports greater global exchange of knowledge.

    Copyright

    • Under the open access license of New literary studies, authors retain copyright ownership of their content.

    • Authors grant Ferdowsi University of Mashhad the permission to publish the article and to identify themselves as the original publisher.

    • Authors also grant any third party the right to freely use the article, provided that its integrity is maintained and the original authors, citation details, and publisher are clearly identified.

    Digital Preservation Policies

    Archive of the journal website

    The electronic content of the journal is archived in the following manner:

    The PDF version of all articles is available online and accessible to readers on the journal website. Meanwhile, a copy of the same content is maintained on another server as a backup. In the event of a problem with the journal website and loss of article data, each article will be republished online on the journal website from the backup server within 24 to 36 hours.

    All issues published in the journal are also archived in the following databases, and in case the journal website becomes unavailable, the articles will be accessible through them:

All authors can archive their articles immediately after publication on the journal website, in their personal system, or on their institutional website.

Policies regarding publication ethics

New literary studies complies with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and follows the Executive Regulations of the Law on Preventing and Combating Fraud in Scientific Works.

All members of the Editorial Board, reviewers, and authors are requested to read the Publication Ethics Statement of New literary studies. If they encounter issues such as plagiarism, citation manipulation, or data fabrication in submitted or published articles, they should raise the matter with the Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Dr. Mahmoud Fotouhi Rudmaejani, via email at fotoohirud@um.ac.ir, or by contacting the publisher at fumpress@um.ac.ir. The Editor-in-Chief and publisher will address the issue according to COPE flowcharts.

Peer Review Policy

In this journal, reviewers are not selected from among the members of the Editorial Board unless in special circumstances where no external reviewer exists in the subject area of the article.

  • All articles submitted to the journal undergo the peer review process.

  • The peer review method used in this journal is double-blind.

  • All stages of the review process are explained in the article acceptance process section.

 

Ownership and Management

This journal is established and managed by Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, which is clearly stated on the journal's homepage.

APC

No fees are charged for the submission and review of articles. However, if an article is accepted, the author(s) shall pay an amount of 6,000,000 Rials (six million Rials) online to the account of the Vice Chancellor for Research of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, to cover part of the editing and printing costs.

Discount Policy of the Journal

The journal has no discount policy.

Journal Revenue Sources

As the publisher, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad provides financial support by allocating a predefined budget for each published issue of the journal. The allocated budget is determined according to the journal's ranking in the annual evaluation announced through the Scientific Journals Portal of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. This funding covers the costs associated with establishing and maintaining the journal's infrastructure, manuscript processing, peer review, editing, typesetting, and the long-term preservation of the journal's article archive.

Another source of financial support for the journal is the publication fee charged to authors whose manuscripts have been accepted for publication. This source of revenue has no influence whatsoever on the editorial decisions made by the Editorial Board.

Advertising

This journal does not accept any form of advertising.

Direct Marketing

There is no direct marketing activity in this journal.

Similarity Check System

New literary studies uses the Hamyab scientific text similarity system to check Persian texts and the iThenticate system to check Latin texts (English extended abstracts of articles) in order to prevent plagiarism. All articles are checked for similarity before being sent for review, and if the similarity percentage exceeds 20%, the article will be excluded from the review process.

Confidentiality Statement

The names and email addresses entered on the journal's website are used exclusively for the purposes of the journal, are not accessible to other sections, and will not be made available to any other person or organization.
