Peer Review Process

Submission to acceptance process for an article in New Literary Studies

1. Registration of the article by the author in the journal's system:

  • Includes completing author details; uploading the article in the journal's requested format; submitting the commitment form and conflict of interest form

2. Announcement of the opinion of the editor and editorial board regarding the article and, if necessary, referral to the subject editor
3. Return of the article to the author for certain structural revisions (if necessary)
4. Submission of the article to 3 independent reviewers specialized in the article's subject
5. After the evaluation by the reviewers or the end of the review deadline, four possibilities may occur for the article:

a) Exit from the journal process: if the article is rejected by 2 reviewers, the article's case is closed and archived.

b) Review and revisions: the article is returned to the authors for review and to make the revisions requested by the reviewers.

c) If the reviewers do not complete the review within the specified time, the article will be sent to new reviewers.

d) If no reviewer accepts to evaluate the article, the article is returned to the author and removed from the journal process.

6. Resubmission of the revised article

For resubmitting the revised version of the article by the authors, the following items must be done:

a) Re-uploading the revised version in which the changed sections are highlighted (in blue).

b) Uploading the authors' response file to the reviewers' questions (within a maximum of two weeks)

c) Uploading the complete revision report letter for the final evaluator to review the article

7. Notification of preliminary acceptance or rejection after examination of the revisions by the reviewers
8. Approval of the review process and final evaluation at the meeting of the journal's editorial board
9. Payment of publication fee: an article accepted at the editorial board meeting must pay 6,000,000 Iranian Rials as the publication fee

  1. The waiting time for articles in the publication queue depends on the number of approved articles

It should be noted that throughout all stages of article review, neither will the authors be informed of the reviewers' names, nor will the reviewers be informed of the authors' names (double-blind peer review). The average initial review time for articles is less than 10 days, and the average total review process completion time for articles in this journal is between 4 to 6 months.
