The text Nuzhat al-'Uqūl fī Laṭā'if al-Fuṣūl represents a significant technical work surviving in a unique manuscript copy. Authored by Abū Ṭāhir Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad Yaḥyā al-'Awfī, this work can be approximately dated to the 7th century AH (13th century CE). The sole extant manuscript is preserved in the Āyatollāh Mar'ashī Library under catalog number 9084. In the published edition prepared by Iraj Afshār and Jawād Bashārī, a tale appearing in the thirty-ninth chapter of the work is presented in a fragmented and disordered manner, lacking both its beginning and conclusion, with additional textual omissions in its middle section. However, examination of the original manuscript reveals that these deficiencies stem solely from editorial and publishing errors, as the source manuscript maintains complete textual integrity. The present study provides a complete critical edition of this tale through rigorous textual analysis supported by codicological evidence, including facsimiles of the relevant manuscript folios, thereby resolving the discrepancies found in the printed version.
